A happy camper, for now

Hey everyone,
After all the bellyaching I've put you through in the past year or so, trying to solve my myriad technical issues (of which VS Pro was only one), I'm happy to report that I just completed a trouble-free mix in VS Pro. Previously, I had invariably received some kind of error message, after which the program would have to be shut down. This usually occurred after some benign action, such as changing from one editor view to another. So I thought my success was worth a post here, and under this heading too!
This might be helpful to someone out there: I had my Dell PC checked out twice, and both times it was given a totally clean bill of health. But this last time, the tech suggested I give the programs I use (really just VS Pro, DrumCore, and Tracktion for assembling my drum track) every chance of working properly by uninstalling every last little piece of unused software from my computer, including (and especially) the antivirus software. It now makes sense to me, but the antivirus software is constantly analyzing every last bit and byte of activity on the PC, and I guess they are notorious for messing with the functionality of otherwise stable programs. Once I cleaned my PC of virtually everything not related to making music, things seem to work fine.
I'll be hanging around here for at least the next 12-18 months, recording my VS and mixing/editing with VS Pro. I've got a rockin' little system now (Good mics, an Avalon 737 mic pre, a Lucid 2-channel AD converter, some decent outboard gear, and of course my VS) that suits my needs. I'm just trying to buy some time before having to endure the learning curve of switching over to another platform and having to invest in more stuff!
Hope you're having a great summer,
Paul
